From the President
It is with great pride and gratitude that I reflect upon the remarkable journey we have undertaken during my tenure as the president of the SIU Foundation Board of Directors. These past two years have been nothing short of transformative, as we shattered previous records in fundraising – raising nearly $64 million – and expanded our outreach initiatives to unprecedented levels.
Through your collective dedication and unwavering commitment, the SIU Foundation has achieved exceptional milestones in supporting our institution's students and faculty. The introduction of the Saluki Takeover Tours and the spectacular Saluki Ball has galvanized our community and paved the way for expanded support that will empower the next generation of leaders.
Our resounding success is not simply measured in dollars raised, but in the tangible impact these funds have on the lives of those we serve. In FY23, more than 14 percent of all SIU students received an SIU Foundation scholarship, and that number continues to grow. We also reached new heights during our annual Day of Giving, raising more than $4 million from 3,702 gifts.
As I transition from the role of president, I do so with a heart full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me and the tireless efforts of the SIU Foundation board and staff. Each accomplishment we have achieved is a testament to the synergy that emerges when a passionate community rallies behind a common goal.
I have no doubt that the foundation we have laid will serve as a sturdy platform for future accomplishments. The momentum we have generated is palpable, and I am confident that the SIU Foundation will continue to flourish under the esteemed leadership of Diane Compardo.
I extend my deepest thanks to every individual who has contributed to our shared success. Let us move forward with the knowledge that our actions today shape a brighter tomorrow for Southern Illinois University and its cherished community.
